NOTICE OF LITIGATION AGAINST LLOYDS PUBLISHING GROUP LIMITED
Friday 18 January 2008
Joint statement by Informa UK Limited and Lloyd’s
Informa UK Limited, a subsidiary of Informa plc, and Lloyd’s have commenced a joint legal action against Lloyds Publishing Group Limited on the grounds of trade mark infringement and passing off.
Informa UK Limited is the owner of the Lloyd’s List publication, Lloyd’s MIU, and other well-respected and historic products in the maritime, transport and insurance domain, some with a heritage of almost 300 years. It is licensed by Lloyd’s to use the distinguished Lloyd’s brand and trademarks across a portfolio of newspapers, books, magazines, websites, conferences, exhibitions, seminars and courses. Lloyd’s itself uses the brand across its entire business, including the highly respected Lloyd’s Agency Network.
Informa and Lloyd’s have been receiving complaints from customers who believed that they were contacted by Lloyd’s Agency, Lloyd’s List or Lloyd’s MIU in relation to advertising and subscription services but have subsequently discovered that they had been dealing with Lloyds Publishing Group Limited.
Both Informa and Lloyd’s would like to confirm that Lloyds Publishing Group Limited is in no way connected with Lloyd’s List, Lloyd’s MIU, Lloyd’s Agency or any other part of Informa or Lloyd’s. Anyone who has been dealing with Lloyds Publishing Group Limited mistakenly believing that it was connected to Informa or Lloyd’s and has any concerns may contact us as follows:
